This is one of those short hikes that still gives your legs a real workout. The Victoria Falls Track is around 4 km return and usually takes about 2 to 3 hours, depending on how long you hang out at the falls. With 330 m of elevation, it definitely makes you earn the views. The track takes you down into the valley with two beautiful waterfalls waiting at the bottom, Victoria Falls and Silver Cascades.
The Hike
The trail starts with a steep descent through lush forest and switchbacks, with plenty of stairs (and even more on the way back up). About halfway down, you’ll hit a signpost, turn right to head to Silver Cascades or left to keep going down towards the base of Victoria Falls.
Make sure you check out both! The cascades are really peaceful and the main waterfall at the bottom is massive, way bigger than it looks from up high or in pictures. There’s a pool at the bottom too if you feel like cooling off.
It’s a short hike but super steep on the way back, so bring water and take your time.
Final Thoughts
Don’t let the short distance fool you, this one is steep. But the rainforest, the sound of the falls, and the views down in the valley make it 100% worth the effort. It’s a great option if you’re after a quick but rewarding hike. Even without jumping in for a swim, the base of the falls is a pretty incredible spot to take a break.
