Exploring Dargans Arch

Blue Mountains National Park

If you’re after a short walk with a big payoff, Dargans Arch is a solid pick. Tucked just off Bells Line of Road near the town of Bell, this natural sandstone arch is the result of a collapsed cave roof and makes for a cool little side adventure.

The Track

The walk itself is quick and easy, about 20 to 30 minutes return depending on how long you hang out at the arch. Most of the track is well-defined, but the last 100 metres or so get a bit rough. There’s no clear path, just a general direction through bush and over some rocks. You’ll need to keep an eye out and maybe have an offline map handy, but it’s not hard to find if you’re paying attention.

Once you reach the arch, you can check it out from above or walk down and around to view it from underneath. The scale of it is impressive up close and there’s a huge skylight where the cave roof collapsed, letting the light pour through.

Nearby Spots

If you want to keep the day going, you’re close to:

  • Rigby Hill Track (1.2 km return) for a quick bonus walk with views
  • Mt Wilson or Mt Tomah Gardens if you’re after a peaceful picnic or scenic detour
Final Thoughts

Dargans Arch is a great option if you’re short on time or just want a low-effort hike with a cool natural feature at the end. It’s one of those spots that feels a bit hidden, but is super easy to get to once you know where to look. Definitely worth the stop if you’re in the area.
