The Palm Jungle Loop is a solid option if you're after something rewarding that doesn't take the whole day. It’s got a bit of everything , coastal views, lush forest, beach stops, and a good sweat by the end. If you're after something that feels like a proper adventure without taking up your whole day, this one’s a great pick.
The Hike
The trail starts from Garawarra Farm carpark, which has recently been upgraded and is fine for all vehicles.
I usually do this track anti-clockwise — it means tackling the steepest climb at the end, but I don't mind getting the hard part out of the way last. If you'd rather avoid that final push, go clockwise instead. The climb feels longer that way, but it's more gradual.
The trail takes you along the coast with views out to the ocean, through thick palm jungle (so lush and green it feels like a different world), and down to a beach. You’ll also catch glimpses of the Figure 8 Pools and Sea Cliff Bridge in the distance depending on the weather and track conditions.
There are a few sections that are rocky, muddy, and overgrown, but nothing too hectic. Just wear good shoes and expect to get a bit dirty if it’s been raining.
Tips Before You Go
- Footwear: Wear proper hiking shoes or boots. Some parts get slippery.
- Snacks & water: Bring enough to keep you going, especially if it's warm.
- Timing: Weekdays or early mornings are quieter. It can get busy on weekends.
Final Thoughts
Palm Jungle Loop is one of those tracks that feels longer than it is , in a good way. The terrain keeps changing, there are views, forest, beach, and enough uphill to get the legs burning. It’s a great option if you want a bit of a challenge but don’t have time for a full-day hike.
